Heading to Poland

Hello Everyone,
It is a couple days after the first annual “BC’s 3 on 3 classic” and I am very excited about the future of the event. The tournament went off with very minimal interruptions. We did misplace 8 gold trophies, but we have since found those and corrected the mistake. The four Butler guys (Brian, Julian, Pete, and Nick Brooks) did a great job of officiating and monitoring the courts, also had a lot of other friends from high school as well as my folks keeping everything organized. I don’t believe I received any complaints and I can’t count how many people said they really enjoyed it. Even though we did not have as many teams as we were hoping for there were still a lot of people down there and it felt pretty full. Not to pat myself on the back but I am going to, but it would not have been so successful with out a lot of people behind the scene. I am just humbled that I have been able to use my name to promote a sport I love as well as help a great organization in the process. The numbers are not final but I believe I was able to raise about $1500 for the club, which any money was going to be great. I have made some notes on some improvements and I am ready for next year.

I’m not sure if many of you have heard but I have signed to go to Poland. Kotwica Kołobrzeg S.A is the official team name. I’m not exactly sure how to pronounce it yet, but I do know it is on the beach in North West Poland. I have researched it a little and know there is a large health spa around the town. Not sure on much else except I should have an extra bed if anyone would like to come and visit. I am going over there with two other players (Skip Mills, Drew Namiac). Skip played at ball state and I have known him for a while. Of course we had battles with the rivalry with butler and ball state and he is also from the Indianapolis area. Drew Namiac played at Michigan State and I just met him this year. He is a very strong center and a great passer; I look forward to playing with both of them. I am scheduled to head over there on August 10.

I will be heading to the jimmy buffet concert and a houseboat trip to Lake Cumberland this week which will make the last couple weeks fly by. The summer actually seems like it went by pretty slow. I was able to do a lot this summer so I am kind of looking forward to going back to Europe and experience another culture all over again. The next time this is updated I will be Poland telling you how crazy life is.

Until next time!

This is BC gone for now

Brandon,

Glad to find this way to connect with you..and glad to see you're still playing in Europe although I'd love to see you here. Butler is still the same, I'm still teaching the same classes although the freshman program has changed some. Why tamper with perfection, right? Will be glad to keep up with you this way...my address is still cmsmith@butler.edu.
